Portsmouth Vineyard LifeChurch – To bring the good news of hope and a future in the name of Jesus so that lives will be transformed

Home page: news & info

Welcome to Portsmouth VIneyard

Portsmouth Vineyard LifeChurch has started!  We are running weekly LifeGroups and StudentLife meetings, whilst growing the infrastructure of the church.  We are now a full registered charity.  Jenny & I have also recently graduated from Moorlands Bible College.

We feel that God is raising people to join us to be part of the team and vision to build his Kingdom. Please pray that God will guide us clearly as we begin to pack up and leave Bournemouth to move into Portsmouth City.

We hope that as you pray to God that He will inspire you to join with us in demonstrating God’s love through serving the people in the City of Portsmouth.

You can contact us at info@PortsmouthVineyard.org or by calling 023 9366 0239, or connect with us on Facebook or Twitter.

Blessings & Grace

Denham & Jenny Howard

LifeGroups meet every Wednesday at 7:30pm

We are delighted to invite you and your friends to our weekly LifeGroup (or snall group) meetings every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:30pm.  The group meets together at ‘The Coffee Pot, Eastney Methodist Church, Highland Road, Southsea, PO4 9NH’ click to see map.

LifeGroups at Portsmouth Vineyard

We believe that LifeGroups enable an environment where people can grow in their relationship with each other, and with God.  They give an opportunity for people to discuss their faith, and to ask questions no matter where they are in their faith journey. Small groups like these are where real discipleship happens – as the Bible says ‘Make disciples of all nations’ (Matthew 28:19).

This is an open meeting, you do not have to belong to the church to attend -everybody is welcome to join us, and to bring friends.

Charity Registration Number – 1144669

Excellent News – The Charity Commission have registered Portsmouth Vineyard LifeChurch as a full charity from today.  We are now able to reclaim Gift Aid on donations we receive from taxpayers who have completed a Gift Aid form.

Our First Worship Celebration Evening

Last night we held our first Worship Celebration Evening at Oasis The Venue.  We celebrated all that God has done so far at Portsmouth Vineyard LifeChurch with an evening of testimony and worship.

Our worship team were amazing – especially considering it was the first time they had played together.  We encountered God in an environment that was equally comfortable for long-term Christians and people visiting a church for the first time.

University StudentLife – New Venue

Change of time and venue – This week StudentLife is joining our LifeGroups 7:30pm at ‘The Coffee Pot’, Eastney Methodist Church, Highland Road, Southsea, PO4 9NH

Portsmouth Vineyard StudentLife provides an opportunity for undergraduate and postgraduate students to meet other Christians, to talk about their faith, to ask questions, and to share their spiritual journey through university together in the relaxed informal environment of Wetherspoons.

Portsmouth Vineyard StudentLife meets at 5:00pm on Wednesdays during university term time at The Isambard Kingdom Brunel in Guildhall Walk, just around the corner from the University.

Fireworks at Gunwharf Quays

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the firework display at Gunwharf Quays. The display was so big that they had to close Portsmouth Harbour!!

We met for drinks at Monk’s bar in old Portsmouth, before walking to Spice Island to watch the display. Thanks also to Lynn and Andrew for opening up their house and preparing drinks and hotdogs for the hungry hoards.

We have Graduated – We Did It!

Denham & Jenny had their Graduation at Christchurch Priory today.  After three years of study, both attained degrees in Applied Theology (Christian Leadership) .

Jenny’s speech at graduation ended with a quote from William Booth who founded the Salvation Army – I could not have put it better myself:

“While women weep, as they do now, I’ll fight; while children go hungry, as they do now I’ll fight; while men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I’ll fight; while there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I’ll fight, I’ll fight to the very end!

Our Commissioning Service in Bournemouth

To Celebrate the start of Portsmouth Vineyard LifeChurch we had our Commissioning Service at Bournemouth Vineyard on Sunday 25th September.  Paul and Fiona Nation, Senior Pastors in Bournemouth commissioned us as a new church in Portsmouth on behalf of Vineyard Churches UK.

Click below to listen to the commissioning.

Most of the congregation from Portsmouth Vineyard joined us for the sending out service followed be Lunch at our house near Wimborne (until we are able to finally sell it).

It was great to have the opportunity for everybody to get to know each other better in a social environment.

Vision Evening – Wednesday 7th September

We held our first Vision and Values evening on Wednesday 7th September, when Jenny and I described the values that underpin vineyard churches and the vision that God has revealed to us for Portsmouth Vineyard.

Vision Evening – 7th September

Celebration & Sending Out

We had a ‘sending out’ celebration at the Apostolic Faith Church in Bournemouth, which is the first purpose built Pentecostal Church in England.  People would walk from as far as Cornwall to be prayed for and receive healings.

We had a great evening hosted by Blair Crawford, lead in worship by Dave Griffiths with speaker Ian Coffey.  We invited several friends who had been a significant part of our spiritual journey, and God blessed us all.
